Can Wake Forest be beaten this weekend at the 2008 College Cup in Dallas, Texas? Or will the season long #1 and defending national champions roll to their 2nd NCAA Mens Soccer National Championship in a row? To see how dominant they have been just see their 21-1-1 record and 81-16 goal differential. They have been #1 in the Soccermogul Top 30 the entire season. Wake Forest are the clear favorites to win this weekend.
Before we just hand them the trophy though, let's look at who else is in the College Cup. Here is the wildcard. If anyone can beat Wake it will be another ACC team. Why you say? Who knows them better than Maryland and North Carolina? They see them all fall. They have played them. They have them scouted inside out. If there were no other ACC teams in the College Cup I would say Wake takes it easily, but if anyone can upset Wake it is UNC and Maryland.
Now I am not calling for an upset. I think Wake Forest IS that good and they have proven it all year. Wake beat both UNC and Maryland on the road this fall, but don't be surprised if Wake Forest finds itself in a struggle this weekend to repeat as NCAA soccer national champs.
