The US Under 20s mens national soccer team bounced back from a 3-0 loss to Germany to take care of Cameroon 4-1 Tuesday in Egypt at the Under 20 World Cup. Thomas Rongen went back to the basics and made five changes from his questionable German lineup and it paid off.
It was a forgettable opening 40 minutes of play with more fouls and injury stoppages than actual attacks on goal. The next 50 minutes would produce attack after attack though. Right on the 45th minute a US header was pushed wide by Cameroon keeper but the ball was played back to Bryan Arguez who roofed the ball into the top net for the opener.
The 2nd half wide wild and wilder as both sides attacked in waves. In the 47th minute Cameroon looked to have equalized, but missed a sitter. The US picked up the ball and went straight to the other end where Tony Taylor tapped in a pass from Dilly Duka for 2-0 USA.
Cameroon continued to attack and looked certain to score as they pressured the US net. They were unlucky though as two shots hit side netting and a header went over. Minutes later it was Dilly Duka once again for the Americans. This time what looked like a cross from the left wing floated over the keeper and into the back side net for the three goal lead.
Cameroon would get their goal though. Ike Opara tripped an attacker in the box and Banana YaYa put home the penalty cutting the lead to 3-1. Just on the mark of stoppage time Brian Ownby would find himself away for the US. A long 50 yard run got him into the box where he finished low left for the 4th goal and a 4-1 US victory.
The win gets the US back into Group C on 3 points. Germany and Korea Republic tied earlier. The US will go through with a win or draw against Korea Republic in their last match and could even go on with a tight loss possibly.

The US women have their new star. First there was Mia Hamm. Then there was Abby Wambach. It looks like young Alex Morgan is the next in line of the great American womens goal scorer.
