The US Under 20 Men's National Team topped the Manchester United Reserves, 2-1, with two goals from Peri Marosevic in the second game of their three-game tour of England. On Wednesday the US Under 20s beat the Bolton reserves 2-0 behind goals from Jorge Flores and Chris Agorsor. In the Man U game, Jorge Flores set up a Peri Marosevic goal in the 62nd minute. The midfielder dribbled down the left flank, beat a defender and slotted the ball for Marosevic, who finished with a one-timer.
Ten minutes later, Manchester United evened the score, beating US keeper Bill Hamid after a breakaway. As time was running out and the match destined for a draw, the Americans took advantage of a long throw in from defender Sheanon Williams. Ike Opara, another defender who had joined the attack, flicked a header into the box for Marosevic, who scored with a one-time shot for the second time on the night.
The US U20s will finish its series of friendlies against the Liverpool Reserves on Friday, May 9 at Ansfield. The game, which was originally scheduled for May 10, will be the third game for the US in three days and close the tour.
