Jack McInerney once again led the way for the US Under 17 Soccer Team as they defeated a feisty Canada squad 4-2 to clinch a berth in the 2009 Under 17 World Cup to be held later this year. Jack McInerney took only two minutes to put the US squad ahead as he converted an early penalty kick. He notched his 2nd of the game in the 30th minute and Sebastian Lletget added the 3rd in the 39th and the US U17s were cruising up 3-0 at halftime.
Canada would not go quietly though as Jaineil Hoilett grabbed one back in the 71st, but The US would answer through Joseph Gyau in the 85th. Canada would earn a late consoloation goal, but the Americans were already celebrating as they locked up a place in the 2009 Under 17 World Cup.
