The US Under 20s won the prestigous Milk Cup in Northern Ireland sweeping all three matches they played against international competition. The U20s opened the tournament slipping by China 1-0 on a first half goal from Omar Salgado who headed home a cross from Alex Molano. In their second match, the US won an entertaining and suspense filled game 3-2 over Denmark. The Americans scored the winner in the 89th minute as Adrian Ruelas was the hero.
In the final, the US U20s faced off against the hosts Northern Ireland and the Americans were all business in denying the home side any cheer at all. US Captain Gale Agbossoumonde opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when he ripped a freekick through the Northern Ireland wall and into the net. Then, right before halftime Juan Agudelo doubled the lead as scored a wonderful individual goal as he picked up the ball near midfield and made a long run past two defenders before he fired home. 2-0 USA at the break.
The second half saw the US side protecting the lead and holding possession. The 3rd goal came when Zarek Valentin linked up with Adrian Ruelas. The win gave the US Under 20s their first Milk Cup title since 2005.
