The semifinals are set at the Under 17 Womens World Cup being held in New Zealand. The US women grabbed one of the four semifinal spots thanks to a solid 4-2 win over Korea Republic on Sunday. The other three semifinal teams are England, Germany and North Korea.
It was a dominating effort from the US Under 17 Women as they put together their best game of the competition so far. Courtney Verloo notched a pair of goals while Vicki DiMartino and Kristie Mewis got one each in the victory. The Americans outshot Korea 20-5 on the day and controlled most of the attack and possession.
The USA will now face Germany in the tournament’s second semifinal after England faces North Korea. Germany took out Canada 3-1 earlier in the day while England advanced over Japan winning a penalty kick shootout after a 2-2 tie. North Korea had no trouble in their quarterfinal match smashing Denmark 4-0.
