US over Honduras on Clint Dempsey goal
The fourth time was the charm as a Clint Dempsey goal led the US over Honduras and new coach Jurgen Klinsmann earned his first victory in his four matches in charge.  He should also thank star keeper Tim Howard who once again showed why he is one of the tops in the world with several fine saves on the night.

Clint Dempsey struck toward the end of the first half giving the Americans a well earned lead.  It was his 23rd international goal. Brek Shea's centering pass got past several players and touched Michael Orozco Fiscal before Dempsey gained control at the top of the penalty area, He moved the ball from his right foot to his left and shot high past goalkeeper Donis Escobar .

"It's huge for all of us. You don't ever want to go a long period of time without winning," Howard said. "We performed well, I think, and we're trying to set a foundation, but ultimately you have to win. That was the focus coming in."

The play was pretty even from there with both sides having chances.  Tim Howard earned his 37th career win for the national team.  "Tim is getting to a time in his career where he realizes these are the golden years for him ahead," Klinsmann said. "We really enjoy what he brings to the table."

The Americans return to the field next week as they face a more difficult test against a quality side from Ecuador.
