After several attempts Chelsea finally got their man. Fernando Torres is on his way to London to join Chelsea in a record move valued at almost $80 million. Liverpool struggled to keep the Spain star, but in the end they just couldn't hang on to him as Torres had put in a request to leave and the money was just too good.
Chelsea add another star to their already deep squad. The question is can Fernando Torres and Didier Drogba thrive together? Both are tradition center forwards and I just can't see either one roaming the wings putting in crosses for the other. Drogba has never been one to make his strike partner look good. He tends to hog the goals as a center forward does. Should be interesting to see how the pair co-exist at Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool had a plan though in case they lost their star forward. They already added Uruguayan stud Luis Silva a few days ago and now are on the verge of signing young Newcastle stud Andy Carroll. Newcastle has been resisting advances for Carroll, but maybe they won't be able to turn down a raised offer from Liverpool. Only time will tell if Liverpool can replace Torres and continue their string of good results.
