Toronto FC looks to be big winner in 2009 MLS Draft

Toronto FC look to be the early big winners coming out of the 2009 MLS Superdraft.  They were able to nab studs Sam Cronin, Stefan Frei, O'Brian White.  Potentially they could have gotten the best midfielder in the draft with Cronin, the consensus best keeper in Frei and the top forward in White.

The 22yr old Sam Cronin from Wake Forest was selected 2nd overall in the draft.  He was a Hermann Trophy finalist and First Team All American.  Many MLS experts consider Cronin to be the most polished midfielder heading to the MLS next season.

With the 4th overall pick the club grabbed UConn forward O'Brian White.  He won the Hermann Trophy his junior year, but suffered a knee injury midway thru last season which sidelined him for the rest of 2008.

In Stefan Frei, Toronto picked up the most highly regarded goalkeeper available in the draft.  He was the MVP at the 2009 MLS Player Combine last week and is considered a "cant miss" prospect.

Add in the 2009 Superdraft along with the acquisition fo Dwayne de Rosario from the Houston Dynamo and Toronto FC fans have a 2009 season to look forward to.
