Bristol City and Hull will face off tomorrow at Wembley in what many consider the most lucrative match in club soccer. The winner gains promotion to the prestigous English Premier League for next fall and the massive monetary windfall that comes with playing in the league. Many experts agree the winner of the match will see a windfall of upwards of $100 million coming from television revenues, ticket sales and merchandise sales.
Hull is the most unlikely of promotion candidates as just last year they were in serious trouble of relegation from the Coca-Cola Championship down to Division 1. A late season push salvaged their spot and the momentum carried into this season as they played themselves into a once in a lifetime opportunity. Hull has never played in the English Premier League before in their 104 year history.
West Brom and Stoke have already earned promotion as they finished 1-2 in the league table for the year. Derby County, Birmingham and Reading are coming down as they finished bottom three after Fulham pulled out an amazing escape over the last few weeks of the season.
