Year two of the Superliga which pits four Mexican sides against four MLS sides in a tournament is off to a rousing start. The games have been vastly entertaining and are a welcome addition to a typical slow soccer summer. So far the MLS and Mexican sides have split the eight matches right down the middle with each country winning four and losing four.
After two rounds of play it looks as CD Guadalajara is the class of Group A as they have beaten both DC United and the Houston Dynamo in their two matches. Still to be decided is the second team to advance from Group A. Houston has the upperhand over Atlante thanks to their opening 4-0 win, but all is left to play for in the last round as Houston plays DC United and Atlante faces CD Guadalajara.
In group B, the New England Revolution have taken the top spot thanks to a 1-0 win over Pachuca last night. Chivas USA eliminated Santos Laguna last night also by a 1-0 score. The second spot in the group will be decided between Chivas USA and Pachuca. Chivas USA has to play New England while Pachuca faces Santos Laguna in the last round of Superliga play this weekend.
