It was a tense day to close out Group C at Euro 2012. Croatia, Italy and Spain all had hopes of winning the group. Italy had the benefit of facing bottom feeders Ireland and cashed in a first half goal from a corner kick.
Spain and Croatia were scoreless at the half in their match. As things stood at that time Italy's lead over Ireland was good enough to win them the group. Croatia was on the outs despite their tie with Spain.
Things would change though. Croatia pushed forward looking for the winner against Spain and almost had it on a couple of occasions forcing Iker Casillas to make nice saves. Croatia were definitely unlucky. Then as champions often due, Spain got their goal.
A wonderful display of passing left substitute Jesus Navas to finish into an empty net. Croatia protested for handball and then offside on the play to no avail. Replays suggested the goal was good.
Italy grabbed a 2nd goal late on through a quality strike from Mario Balotelli who entered as a substitute. Ireland finished the group with no points to show from their three matches.
Spain wins Group C and will await the second placed squad from Group D finishing tomorrow. Italy will face the Group D winners. France, England and Ukraine are battling for the two berths in the quarterfinal round.

This one was crazy. Germany raced out to a 4-0 lead and then "watched" as Sweden stormed back to earn a 4-4 draw in front of a stunned Berlin crowd.

The old adage "like father, like son" is used in many walks of life, but not often in the world of sports. Teedy and his son Charlie Sheringham are an exception.
