Don't look now but the hottest team in MLS is the San Jose Earthquakes. FC Dallas's long unbeaten streak came to a shocking end last weekend as they were thrashed at home by bottom side Sporting KC.
Meanwhile, the Earthquakes have been zipping along with four wins in their last 5 matches. They are slowly making their way up the Western Conference standings after a disappointing 1-4-3 start to the season. Now they are up to 6th and only 3 points out of 3rd.
San Jose will try to keep the run of good play going as they travel to face Sporting Kansas City in their new Livestrong Sporting Park. It wont be an easy trip as Sporting KC is unbeaten in their last 4 and finally seeing some positive performances.
“We’ll just continue the training that we’ve been doing and continue the belief that we can win any game,” Coach Frank Yallop said. “I think that’s been really good with our guys. Once we got it all figured out and working like a unit, we found that we started to win games.”
With Chris Wondolowski away with the US National Team at the Gold Cup, Steven Lenhart has stepped up to fill the scoring void as he has notched 4 goals in his last two matches.
