Robin Van Persie wins it late as United beat City

Robin Van Persie wins it late as United beat City
Injury time was once again golden for Manchester United.  It seems a regular deal to see Sir Alex Ferguson's side notching an important late goal.  Sunday's Manchester Derby was no different as Robin Van Persie curled a free kick in off the post to win it 3-2 in dramatic fashion.

It was a commanding opening for City as they bossed play from the opening whistle.  They couldn't cash in on the dominance though and ended up with nothing to show from it.  That's when United struck.  Star Wayne Rooney would notch twice to lead the visitors to a shock lead.

City boss Roberto Mancini rallied the troops after the break though as he introduced Carlos Tevez for the ineffective Mario Balotelli.  The rally was underway when on the hour mark Yaya Toure scored off a David Silva pass.  With only minutes to play Pablo Zabaleta grabbed the tying goal as he pounced on a loose ball from a corner kick.  2-2 with time to play.

The match would finish in wild fashion as late in injury time Tevez fouled Rafael allowing Robin Van Persie to score the dramatic winner.  There was still craziness though as City fans did not take to losing well.  As United celebrated, City fans pelted the winners with debris from the stands.  United defender Rio Ferdinand was struck near the eye leaving a trail of blood.

Police rushed in to try to control the crowd and find the criminal.  It was a wild ending for sure.

The win leaves Manchester United with a 6 point lead at the top of the standings over their cross town rivals.
