The Colorado Rapids have picked up right where they left off last year. After winning the MLS Cup last year, the Rapids have run out winners in their first three MLS matches of 2011.
After taking out Portland and Chivas USA, the Rapids were rude hosts as they blasted DC United 4-1 on Sunday. Caleb Folan notched two goals as he has made his presence felt after only arriving two weeks ago as a new signing. Jamie Smith and Omar Cummings scored the other goals in the easy victory.
The Rapids are sitting atop the Western Conference standings after three matches with the LA Galaxy two points behind and Real Salt Lake three back. They have outscored their first three opponents 8-2.
Next up for Colorado is a tricky trip to face FC Dallas at Pizza Hut Park. It is a rematch from last year's MLS Cup where despite being outplayed, Colorado escaped with the win. Add the revenge factor to the fact that FC Dallas will be looking for their first win of the season and it looms a difficult test.
