The quarterfinals are set at the Under 17 World Cup in Nigeria. The round of 16 produced some wonderful matches and some world soccer powers found themselves booking flights home. Germany, Mexico, USA and Argentina all crashed out as the Under 17 World Cup is down to eight.
A couple of shockers dotted the round of 16. Columbia rallied from a two goal deficit scoring twice in the final 5 minutes to eliminate Argentina 3-2. Surprise Switzerland kept their perfect tournament going as they eliminated Germany in extra time and Mexico fell to a resolute South Korea squad in penalties.
Spain rolled on as they trounced Burkino Faso 4-1 with three second half goals and look to be a favorite to win it all. Turkey also continued their solid play defeating the UAE 2-0. Italy put forth a shaky effort and slipped past a US side 2-1 that missed several golden scoring opportunities including a penalty kick. Finally host side Nigeria destroyed New Zealand 5-0 in front of a wild home crowd.
The quarterfinals are as follows:
Columbia-Turkey
Switzerland-Spain
Spain-Urugauy
Nigeria-Korea
