The expansion Philadelphia Union stole the show at the 2010 MLS Superdraft as they wheeled and dealed their way into three first round picks grabbing important cornerstones to start the young franchise. The club pulled a pair of predraft deals to land the #6 and #7 picks to go along with the #1 overall pick they already had.
With the top overall pick the Philadelphia Union selected 6'2 speedy forward Danny Mwanga who will be expected to produce right away at forward. Mwanga is from Oregon State where he was the PAC Ten Player of the Year. With the #6 pick the team grabbed UCLA midfielder Amobi Okugo and then at #7 took US Youth National Team striker Jack McInerney. A trio of very impressive picks that had the MLS Superdraft crowd buzzing. Later in the draft the Union added US Youth National Team keeper Brian Perk as well as Kyle Nakazawa.
All in all a very impressive beginning for the expansion club who can only hope the success on the field will match the success in the MLS Superdraft.
