California and UCLA are in control of the chase for the PAC 10 mens soccer title heading into the home stretch. In fact, they are the only two teams in the conference with a winning record in league so far. Cal is 5-1-1 while UCLA sits 5-2-0. Stanford is in 3rd place but only 3-4-0. Washington, Sand Diego State and Oregon State are bringing up the rear in that order.
The PAC 10 is all about Cal and UCLA though this year. California is ranked 10th nationally while UCLA is 15th. Both sides are solid picks to make the NCAA soccer tournament and both could make long runs once they get there. The two teams split a pair of 1-0 games the last two weekends with the road team winning both games. California could really take control of the title race this weekend as they play Oregon State and Washington at home. UCLA has the weekend off.
Paul Davis of Cal leads the PAC 10 in scoring with 6 goals and 8 assists on the season as he leads the top offense in the conference. Cal goalkeeper David Bingham leads the conference in goals against only allowing 9 in 14 matches this year.
