Olympic Mens Soccer - Opening Day Wrapup

The opening day of the 2008 Beijing Olympics mens soccer tournament is in the books. A look at the groups after the opening round:
Group A -
Group favorites Argentina slipped past Ivory Coast 2-1 behind Lionel Messi's goal and assist while Australia and Serbia fought to a 1-1 draw as Serbia equalized in the 78th minute.
Group B -
Stuart Holden scored an early 2nd half goal and the Americans made it stand up as the US defeated Japan 1-0. In the other group game Nigeria and Holland battled to a scoreless draw. The United States faces Holland next.
Group C -
Brazil slipped by Belgium 1-0 on a 2nd half goal from Hernanes. Belgium were down to 10 men after a sendoff. Meanwhile, the host side China were unable to beat 10 man New Zealand. In fact, China fell behind but rescued the point with late goal. China 1 New Zealand 1.
Group D -
Favorites Italy had little trouble with Honduras winning easily 3-0 and Cameroon scored in the 81st to grab a draw with Korea Republic.
