North Texas sent a message to the rest of the country last weekend at the 2008 USYSA National Championships...the best youth soccer resides in Texas. The past decade Southern California has made this claim and backed it up with national championships. This year the North Texas teams made a claim for the best youth soccer by claiming 7 titles. No other state won more than 1. North Texas won titles at the four oldest boys ages:
Under 19 -Solar 89
Under 18 - Andromeda 90
Under 17 - Andromeda 91
Under 16 - Dallas Texans 92
Texas almost took another title at U15 but were unable as Casa Mia Bays of Baltimore won their 2nd straight national championship over Solar Red 93.
On the girls side, the Dallas Texans carried the day further proving North Texas the class of the nation taking titles at::
Under 15 girls - Dallas Texans 93
Under 16 girls - Dallas Texans 92
Under 17 girls - Dallas Texans 91
As stated earlier, no other state was able to claim more than one age group title. Making waves on the girls side though was newcomer Eclipse FC from Illinois which advance a pair of teams on the girls side. Slammers FC won their second consecutive national championship as they won the Under 19 girls title.
