No Thierry Henry, No problem. The New York Red Bulls went to The Home Depot Center missing their star, but a classy performance left them with three points and a quality road win against a fristrated LA Galaxy side. Despite tons of possession and numerous quality attacks the Galaxy had a goose egg to show at the end of the night. Landon Donovan was missing for long stretches and despite a galant effort David Beckham could not get the team over the hump.
New York struck first in the 36th minute as the active Joel Lindpere got in behind the Galaxy defense. Lindpere's shot came off the post, but Dane Richards was waiting to tap in for the lead. The Red Bulls put their foot on the ball and killed off the remainder of the opening half.
The Galaxy came out in the second half bent on attack. They attacked down the wings well, but their center mids were slow getting into the attack and New York picked up the majority of second balls. On the hour mark Dane Richards was dragged down in the penalty area and Juan Pablo angel finished to make it 2-0.
The Galaxy had plenty of chances in the final 20 minutes and the game turned into a bit of a track meet at times as the play zipped end to end. As time expired LA still had nothing on the board and New York had an impressive win.
