The opening two rounds of the 2008 NCAA Womens Soccer Tourney is in the books. A few upsets dotted the brackets but for the most part the favorites pushed through to the final 16. Only three of the 16 seeded teams were knocked out. The biggest upset was Colorado of the Big 12 falling to South Dakota State 1-0 in Minnesota. Oklahoma State were eliminated in penalty kicks by Rutgers and Wake Forest went down to James Madison in the round of 32. West coast powers USC sqeeked by BYU in penatly kicks in the tightest game of the opening weekend.
There are some really attractive round of 16 matchups as ACC rivals Duke and Virginia square off and Florida-Texas A&M clash. Round of 16:
Notre Dame - Minnesota
Florida State - Boston College
Portland - James Madison
Stanford - Rutgers
USC - UCLA or San Diego
Duke - Virginia
Florida - Texas A&M
North Carolina - Illinois
