The expansion Philadelphia Union selected 18yr old Oregon State forward Danny Mwanga with the top pick in the 2010 MLS Superdraft. After leaning towards the defense in the expansion draft, the Union went for the best attacker in the draft as they took Danny Mwanga. He is a Generation Adidas player so Mwanga's salary will not count against the Union's salary cap this year.
Danny Mwanaga skipped last week's MLS Combine which gave hint to the fact that he would be taken 1st overall in the Superdraft. Mwanga was the Pac 10 freshman of the year in 2008 and Pac 10 player of the year in 2009. He notched 14 goals last season for Oregon State.
The Philadelphia Union hope to duplicate the success that last year's expansion Seattle Sounders experienced with glorious fans, great crowds and a playoff appearance.
