Tiny Montenegro are clearly the surprise of Euro 2012 qualifying so far. Their latest conquest is holding mighty England to a scoreless draw at Wembley Tuesday evening. The draw leaves Montenegro on top of Group G on 10 points from 4 matches and broke England's 11 match home winning streak. They already have impressive wins over Bulgaria and Switzerland earlier in qualifying. England sits three points behind with 7 from 3 games.
The draw puts Montenegro in perfect position to earn a spot in Euro 2012. It was a testy match which saw 9 yellow cards given as Montenegro were determined to put up a fight. England held a 12-5 advantage in shots on the night, but the home side rarely created much of any chance in the opening hour of play. Finally a quality chance for England as Steven Gerrard played a perfect ball for Wayne Rooney who saw his shot saved by Mladen Bozovic in the Montenegro goal.
In the end it was a frustrating night for England and the Wembley fans who expect wins on home soil. Next up England faces a tricky trip to Wales where they need to claim all three points. Montenegro host Bulgaria and will be looking to stay atop the group and cement a spot in Euro 2012.
