Steve Zakuani of Akron has been made the first overall pick in the 2009 MLS Superdraft by the expansion Seattle Sounders. The forward has been rumoured to be the top pick in the draft for weeks and is definitely the most polished forward available.
Steve Zakuani scored an incredible 43 goals in 44 matches while at Akron. Zakuani was born in the Congo and came to the United States as a teenager. The pick is a clear signal that Seattle will be looking to attack in their first year in the league. Zakuani will join former US star Kasey Keller in Seattle.
