Chicago 2 New England 1
FC Dallas 3 Columbus 1
Chivas USA 3 Real Salt Lake 2
Los Angeles 2 Houston 1
Colorado 1 Toronto FC 0
Chad Barrett had a goal and assist as Chicago fought back to defeat New England 2-1 at Toyota Park on Saturday night. Jeff Larentowicz fired the Revs ahead midway through the opening stanza, but Chris Rolfe leveled matters seconds before halftime. Barrett then hit the winner on the hour to help the Fire move closer to a playoff spot.
Elsewhere, FC Dallas clinched a postseason berth by storming past sputtering hosts Columbus 3-1. Eddie Gaven's strike put the Crew up at the break, but Arturo Alvarez knotted the contest three minutes out of intermission. Just when the match appeared headed for a share, Abe Thompson netted twice in the final four minutes to smash and grab the points.
Finally, a double from rookie John Cunliffe sparked Chivas USA to a 3-2 win over Real Salt Lake that gave them a three-point edge atop the Western standings. The Englishman opened on 22 minutes, then after Chris Brown equalized early in the second half, bagged his brace in the 54th minute. Paulo Nagamura scored an insurance tally four minutes later, rendering a Robbie Findley marker just past the hour as mere consolation.
Los Angeles came back from a Sunday afternoon deficit at Houston to post a 2-1 win and stay in the heat of the playoff race. Nate Jaqua buried a Joseph Ngwenya cross midway through the opening period to put the champs ahead, but Carlos Pavon fired the Galaxy level in stoppage time with a top notch effort. Gavin Glinton bagged the 77th minute winner, applying a tap to Cobi Jones' flick-on of a Landon Donovan restart.
In the late game, 10-man Colorado edged out Toronto FC 1-0 thanks to a Jovan Kirovski penalty kick just before the break.
