Eddie Johnson bagged his third goal of the night with eight minutes remaining to earn Kansas City a 4-3 triumph at New England.
The hosts jumped ahead early on goals by U.S. Gold Cup call-ups Steve Ralston and Taylor Twellman, but Davy Arnaud sliced the lead in the 25th minute. Johnson then hit on 26 and 38 minutes to flip the scoreline in the Wizards' favor. Shalrie Joseph eventually fired the Revs level from the spot after 69 minutes, but Johnson completed his hat trick from a Carlos Marinelli set-up to assure the win. "Going on the road and trailing early 2-0, I mean this is a tough place to play," Arnaud told MLSNet. "We scored two goals pretty quick and got the third before half - I think it showed a lot about our character."
Later, Chivas USA got second half goals from Maykel Galindo and Ante Razov to defeat FC Dallas 2-0. Former Galaxy man Herculez Gomez netted the only goal of the game with 19 minutes remaining as Colorado topped 10-man visitors Los Angeles 1-0.
Christian Gomez notched a first half goal and assist to lead D.C. United to a 2-1 victory over goal shy Houston. "I thought we came out and really took the game to them," asserted United boss Tom Soehn. "I talked to them about how confidence stretches with teams and, with Houston failing to score, I think we could go a long way."
Finally, Toronto FC rallied twice for a 2-2 draw at Columbus, with Canada international Jim Brennan grabbing the second equalizer just after the break. Andy Herron scored twice for the Crew on his return from a suspension, but Danny Dichio and Brennan assured the visitors a share.
"To go a goal down is horrible after the first few minutes, because in the rest of the game, you are chasing them," said Brennan. "Obviously, they had the lead, we came back, they got one and then to finally draw the game in the end is a bonus for us."
