With only a week to go there are still 3 playoff spots yet to be decided in MLS play. Two spots are still up for grabs in the Eastern Conference while there is one yet to be decided in the Western Conference.
Eastern Conference -
Columbus, Chicago, New England have clinched spots.
Two spots to come from Kansas City, New York and DC United.
DC United must win at Columbus to have a chance at one of the playoff spots. The good news is that they will know their situation as both New York and Kansas City play before them. New York plays on Thursday evening at Chicago while Kansas City plays Saturday at New England. All three contenders play at teams that have secured palyoff berths so personnel will be an issue as it is expected that the clinched teams could rest star players heading into the playoffs.
Western Conference -
Houston and Chivas USA have clinched spots.
The last playoff spot comes down to Colorado and Real Salt Lake and they get to decide it on the field as Real Salt Lake travels to Colorado on Saturday night. Colorado must win the match while RSL advances with a win or draw.
