Manchester United had no problem dispatching last place Portsmouth Saturday as Wayne Rooney led the way in a 5-0 smashing. Everyone expected a walk in the park for Man U as last place Portsmouth can limping into Old Trafford and that's exactly what everyone got. Portsmouth was less than competitive and appear ready to head out of the EPL.
Even though it took over half an hour for them to get on the board, it was all United right from the start as they held possession and attacked in waves. It was in form striker Wayne Rooney that broke the tie in the 40th minute as he headed home a cross from David Fletcher. The 2nd goal came on the stroke of halftime as a Nani ball was deflected into their own net after two deflections.
The 2nd half was much the same as Manchester United poured on the flair. Berbatov scored and then two more own goals finished out the 5-0 rout. The win moves Man U past Chelsea and into the top spot once again. Chelsea faces a desperate Arsenal side tomorrow where a win would move Chelsea back top.
