Manchester United widened their lead at the top of the English Premier League after defeating Blackburn 2-1 on Saturday. Meanwhile, second place Liverpool could only manage a 1-1 draw with Manchester City. With the results, the Manchester United lead grew to 7 points at the top of the table with Man U on 62 and Liverpool on 55 points.
Chelsea's 1-0 at Aston Villa vaulted them past Villa and into 3rd place on 52 points while Aston Villa stayed on 51. The top four teams in the final EPL standings earn Champions League berths. Arsenal sit 5th after struggling to a 0-0 draw with Sunderland. It doesn't look likely that Arsenal has the quality to catch either Chelsea or Aston Villa and get into the top 4.
Today's final match of the weekend is an important one as well. Hull hosts Tottenham as both teams looking to gain some space above the relegation zone. Hull has been in poor form of late and learned this week that recent signing Jimmy Bullard is out for the season with injury. Hull is winless in their last six matches. Tottenham hasn't been playing much better though with only one win in their last six.
