Manchester United Thumps Chelsea 3-0

Manchester United Thumps Chelsea 3-0

Manchester United sent a very clear message to the whole of the EPL on Sunday as they thumped Cheslea 3-0 at Old Trafford.  The result was felt in Liverpool clearly.  Manchester United must be counted as favorites for the title now.

The resounding win pulled Man U within 1 point of Chelsea and 5 from Liverpool.  The wildcard in the equation is that United have two games in hand and if they win both they will sit atop the league.  Liverpool's 0-0 draw with Stoke have brought them in range.

Chelsea came out the aggressors and were the better side for the first 15 minutes, but then United settled in and got the better of the game the rest of the half.  Even so it looked like it would go to half scoreless until a corner found a diving Vidic at the back post for the opener with only a minute left to play.  It was a Ryan Giggs corner that was flicked on by Berbatov to the diving Vidic.

The second half was open and entertaining as one would expect with Manchester United seizing control in the 63rd minute when Patrice Evra fired in a left footed cross that Wayne Rooney side footed into the net for the 2-0 lead.  The icing on the cake came in 87th when Cristiano Ronaldo rifled a free kick that found Berbatov for the 3-0 final.

Manchester Unietd can draw even closer to Liverpool when they play Wigan on Wednesday at Old Trafford.
