Get your popcorn as the Champions League has resumed play with the final 16 knockout round following the winter break. In the premier match of the day, Manchester United and Inter Milan battled to a scoreless draw in Italy. United came out the aggressors and completely dominated the first 30 minutes of play. Cristiano Ronaldo ran wild on the Italians drawing several dangerous free kick opportunites as well as just missing scoring on two other headers in the box.
Inter began to play their way into the match towards the end of the first half and coach Jose Mourinho worked his magic at halftime as Inter came out a better side in the second half. The Serie A squad were on the front foot to open the half and just missed a couple of prime scoring opportunities. It was end to end action over the last 15 minutes, but neither side were able to score. A final free kick from Cristiano Ronaldo blasted Inter keeper Julio Cesar square in the chest and the whistle blew confirming the draw. All is left to play for now as the two sides will meet in Manchester to decide the victor.
In other Champions League action Tuesday, Arsenal rode a Robin van Persie penalty to a 1-0 home win over AS Roma. Barcelona and Lyon played to a 1-1 draw in France, giving Barca the advantage heading home. Atletico Madrid and Porto drew 2-2 as Porto came from behind twice on goals from Lisandro Lopez.
