Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster was the hero as Man U won the Carling Cup in penalties over Tottenham after a scoreless draw. The two sides played the entire 90 minutes plus two more 15 minute overtime periods without finding the net.
Cristiano Ronaldo never really had an impact and aside from a penalty claim that went unrewarded the only other sighting was when he was carded once again for diving. Each team had one quality chance in the extra time as Darren Bent forced a quality Ben Foster save while a Tevez header went wide at the other end.
In penalties, all four Manchester United players converted while only Corluka could answer for Tottenham.
