Chelsea must dread seeing Manchester City and their star striker Carlos Tevez on the schedule. After today's 1-0 City win Chelsea has lost three straight to the upstarts and Carlos Tevez has notched six goals in six matches against Chelsea. It was a Tevez strike in the second half that would decide the day as Chelsea suffered their first EPL defeat of the year.
Chelsea had plenty of attack, generating 18 shots, but only 4 were on target. The Manchester City defense did a stellar job of limiting the quality chances as they kept Didier Drogba in check most of the game. Their best chance came in the opening half from a set piece as Alex rose high and headed off the crossbar.
In the 60th minute the winner would come for City. A loose ball in the midfield sent them off on a 3v3 counter and Carlos Tevez raced forward. He was given too much room as he approached the penalty area where he cut right and fired. It was a low shot that found the inside of the post and the net.
Chelsea had chances to even the game as Essien headed over and Anelka fired just wide, but in the end the day was to belong to Manchester City. The loss leaves Chelsea on 15 points and moves City to 11. Arsenal and Manchester United can both move to 14 points with wins this weekend.
