Manchester United closed the deal with a 2-0 win at Wigan on Sunday to clinch the 2007-2008 English Premier League championship. The day began with Chelsea and Man U tied on points with Manchester holding the tiebreaker on goal differential. With both teams playing at the same time, fans all across England were not only watching their favorite, but also watching the scoreboard.
A Cristiano Ronaldo first half penalty put Manchester United ahead and sank Chelsea hearts. However an early second half goal from Shevchanko gave Chelsea hope. A goal from Wigan to tie Man U and Chelsea would be champions. However, shortly after a goal from Ryan Giggs all but dashed any hopes Chelsea had for the title and a last minute Bolton goal sealed the deal. It is Manchester United atop the English Premier League standings for the year. It is Sir Alex Ferguson's 10th title at the hlem of Manchester United and the clubs 17th title overall. Chelsea will get a chance at revenge as the two sides will square off in the Champions League final in Moscow later this month.
