Manchester United raced out to the same quick start they got in the 1st leg in Italy against Inter Milan. This time though they got the goal they deserved unlike two weeks ago in Milan. Man U centerback Vidic knocked home a free header from a corner in the 4th minute to get United on their way.
Again Inter looked shellshocked and unprepared for United's speed early in the game. It took a solid 25 minutes to get their legs under them, but then Inter Milan had a couple of great chances to even the game. Ibrahimovic hit the woodwork and Stankovic forced a great Edwin van der Sar save to keep the match 1-0 at half. Other than a couple of brief flashes, it must be said it was a poor night from Ibrahimovic though.
The second half began the same as the first and this time it was Cristiano Ronaldo driving a header into the net from a Wayne Rooney cross after only four minutes. The match was pretty much decided at that point.
Elsewherein the Champions League, Barcelona used a pair of early goals from Thierry Henry to race out to a 4-0 lead over French side Lyon who tried to claw back with a two second half goals. Barcelona advances on a 5-3 aggregate. FC Porto held Atleitco scoreless in Portugal and rode their away goal from the 1st leg to the aggregate win.
