Several EPL teams made moves to improve their squads as the transfer deadline closed last night. Manchester City made the biggest splash signing Brazilian international Robinho from Real Madrid for upwards of $60 million. A Robinho move had long been rumoured and Man City look to his creativity to bolster the side. Chelsea had been the favourites for his services, but City succesfully made the swoop. A spokesman for the Stamford Bridge club later revealed they were unwilling to match City's huge offer for the former Santos forward.
Everton was particularly active on the final dat as well as they brought in three new players. Louis Saha from Manchester United, Carlo Nash from Wigan and Marouane Fellaini from Standard Leige all join the Everton squad. Everton broke their club record to sign Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini for an initial $30 million from Standard Liege.
Manchester United finally landed Dimitar Berbatov from Tottenham. The Berbatov transfer was like a soap opera with far too much drama over the last few weeks. As part of the deal, Tottenham agreed to drop charges of illegal approach against Man U.
English Premier League new boys Hull and Stoke were also busy, with the Tigers bringing in Daniel Cousin from Rangers for an undisclosed fee and Kamil Zayatte on loan from Young Boys. Stoke brought defender Danny Higginbotham back from Sunderland while young midfielder Tom Soares moved from Crystal Palace and Michael Tonge arrived from Sheffield United in a $4 million deal.
