Just when DC United thought they had the game in hand, Landon Donovan swooped in and netted twice to earn the LA Galaxy a 2-2 draw with DC United Sunday at Home Depot Center. A Christian Gomez penalty kick had given the visitors a halftime lead and when Chris Pontius scored in the 62nd minute it looked good for DC United.
Then the tide changed. In the 80th minute DC United rookie Rodney Wallace was called for a handball in the area and Landon Donovan got the Galaxy on the board by knocking home the penalty kick. Just six minutes later Donovan would get on the end of a Kyle Patterson cross to tie the game at two and send the home crowd into a frenzy.
