There is definitely a bit of a love affair between Everton and Landon Donovan. Last time Landon burst onto the English Premier League scene energizing the Everton team in 2010 as he spent 13 weeks on loan. His stellar play even earned him a player of the month award. Now Landon is heading back to England and hoping to duplicate his impact of 2010.
"The opportunity to return to Everton and play for such a well-respected club and a manager that I hold in such high regard was something that was simply too good to pass up," Donovan said in a club statement. "I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Everton in 2010, and I'm hopeful that we can experience similar success this time around."
It will be a two month loan as Everton looks to revive their languishing EPL season that sees them sitting in 12th. Donovan should be eligible to play after the new year.
Said Coach Moyes, in a statement released by Everton: "I am delighted that we have managed to get Landon back. He will give us some good experience over January and February. He did well for us when he was over two years ago and hopefully will return with those same qualities. His [MLS] season has just finished, and like last time we need him to hit the ground running, because the games come thick and fast at this time of year."
The Galaxy are for the move as they break for the offseason after their MLS championship victory. The next big news should be where David Beckham ends up. Word is he will accept a move to Paris St Germain.
