Mexico has traditionally found it difficult on their Carribbean trips and Saturday was no different as they ran into a Jamaican side inspired by new coach John Barnes. The Jamaicans played wonderful soccer as they never seemed scared of the powerful Mexico side. They were spurred on by a 14th minute goal from Richard Fuller.
Mexico fought back valiantly, but squandered several scoring chances towards the end of the game. The Jamacan defense would stand strong though and secure the saving win. Mexico and Honduras both sit on 9 points from four matches with Jamaica now on 4 points. Jamaica remains alive in qualifying but just barely with the win. They must now travel to Honduras and win on Wednesday. A Honduras win or draw will eliminate Jamaica. Mexico will play in Canada on Wednesday needing only a draw to clinch a spot in the next round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying.
