The 2009 Gold Cup semifinals are all set as Mexico and Costa Rica booked their spots with comfortable wins on Sunday. Neither of Sunday's Gold Cup quarterfinal matches at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium were in doubt as both Mexico and Costa Rica ran out winners. Mexico was led by Giovani Dos Santos with a goal and two assists and a pair of goals from Miguel Sabah as they trounced Haiti 4-0. Earlier in the day Costa Rica destroyed Guageloupe 5-1 as Alvaro Saborio scored a pair.
Saturday's Gold Cup quarterfinal matches were much tighter as Honduras slipped past Canada 1-0 and the US beat Panama 2-1 in extra time. Honduras rode a 35th minute Walter Martinez penalty kick to knock out Canada while the US rallied from a halftime deficit to force overtime where a Kenny Cooper penalty kick provided the winning margin.
The 2009 Gold Cup semifinals are set for Thursday in Chicago and will feature Honduras-USA and Mexico-Costa Rica.
