Thursday UEFA announced charges against AC Milan's Gennaro Gattuso for "gross unsporting conduct" after his actions in the Champions League clash with Tottenham on Tuesday. Gattuso had two confrontations with Tottenham assistant coach Joe Jordan the second of which showed Gattuso head-butting the coach.
UEFA specified the charge its disciplinary panel will consider at a hearing next Monday. Gattuso could have faced an assault charge for butting Tottenham assistant Joe Jordan, a former Milan player, after the English club's 1-0 victory on Tuesday. The disciplinary code calls for a ban of at least one European match for "unsporting conduct," but at least three for "assaulting players or others present at the match."
Gattuso is already suspended for the March 9 return match in London after getting a yellow card for a foul ealy in the second half of play. AC Milan is in a deep hole ater losing the opening leg and will need a momumental effort at White Har Lane.
