It was a must win for Tottenham in a difficult environment. Norwich has not been an easy beat this year and Spurs would find tough sledding early on against the newly promoted side. But Tottenham had to find a way to get three points if they were to keep their EPL title aspirations alive.
A wide open first half somehow produced no goals as both sides could not find that final ball to break down the opposing defenses. Gareth Bale had the best chance of the opening 45 but left it begging.
Spurs set about the second half in urgent need of finding that all important opening goal. On 55 minutes they found it through Gareth Bale. Emmanuel Adebayor slipped a short square ball that Bale collected with a touch and quickly fired home.
Just minutes later Gareth Bale showed why he is one of the stars of the EPL as he took a pass from Luka Modric and raced down the middle of the field on a 50 yard run before finishing with class. Bale's two goals certainly put the match beyond Norwich.
Norwich were never really able to trouble American Brad Freidel in the Tottenham goal as Spurs got the three points they were seeking. The win moves them within seven points of the two Manchester sides at the top of the EPL. Tottenham stays on the road in their next fixture as they travel to Swansea while Norwich host Clint Dempsey and Fulham.
