Edson Buddle started the 2010 MLS season on fire and the LA Galaxy hope he will end the season in the same way. On Saturday night Edson Buddle lifted his team to a 1-0 victory over the Seattle Sounders in front of a raucus Seattle crowd. The Galaxy now carry a solid advantage heading back to California for the return leg of the opening round series.
It was a goal truly befitting of a playoff winner. In the 37th minute Edson Buddle wrestled off his marker to create a yard of space but he still had a lot to do from his position 40 yards from goal. His instinctive volley on the turn caught the entire stadium by surprise, not least of all Sounders goalkeeper Kasey Keller, who struggled to react as the shot sailed diagonally over his head and into the far corner of the net.
On the other end, Galaxy goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts held firm with six saves and central defender Omar Gonzalez wsas strong to preserve the valuable shutout.
