The Los Angeles Galaxy continue their early season run of fine form in MLS play as they took care of the expansion Philadelphia Unio Saturday night 3-1. The only surprising thing about the result was that the Galaxy actually gave up a goal. The defense, led by Omar Gonzalez, has only yielded two goals in six matches so far.
On a side note, how long until Omar Gonzalez gets a call into the US National Team?
The offense has been just as potent for Los Angeles as Edson Buddle currently leads MLS in goals with a whopping nine already. Landon Donovan has notched six assists and the Galaxy are 5-0-1 to open the season leading the MLS Western Conference by six points over Houston and Colorado.
FC Dallas has been at the other end of the spectrum. Although they have played good soccer, the team has very little to show for the quality on the field. Three home games have yielded nothing more that three frustrating ties. Saturday night in New England had to be the most frustrating match to date as the Revolution received two red cards and were forced to play with nine men for a long stretch. Dallas gifted New England a goal via a shocking misplay from Dario Sala and then could only manage one goal amidst several misses in a 1-1 draw.
FC Dallas sits with only four draws from five matches and trail the Galaxy by 12 points in the Western Conference.
