College Soccer - Final Weekend Regular Season

The final weekend of the 2008 college soccer regular season is upon us and there conference championships up for grabs all across the country.  We'll try to highlight the big games heading into the finales.

ACC -
#14 North Carolina @ #2 Maryland
NC State @ Duke
#1 Wake Forest @ #26 Virginia
Boston College @ Virginia Tech
Wake Forest has the regular season title clinched and looks to finish off an undefeated regular season at Virginia.   #2 Maryland can wrap up 2nd place with a win or draw against #14 North Carolina.  The rest of the conference is tightly packed as only 1 game separates 3rd place Boston College from 6th place North Carolina.

Big Ten -
Penn State @ #12 Michigan
Northwestern @ Indiana
#11 Michigan State won the title last weekend after knocking off Northwestern.  #12 Michigan can clinch 2nd with a win over Penn State.  A Michigan slipup and Northwestern can jump them, but must win at Indiana to do so.

Big East -
The tournament is already underway.  Notre Dame, UConn, St Johns and South Florida earned first round byes.  Quarterfinal matchups are as follows:
DePaul @ UConn
Providence @ St Johns
Louisville @ Notre Dame
Georgetown @ South Florida

Pac 10 -
#30 Washington @ #13 California
Oregon State @ Stanford
UCLA is firmly in control of the conference.  The fight is for 2nd place as San Diego State, Washington and California are all within 3 points of each other.

Atlantic 10 -
It will be a wild final weekend as #17 Dayton, UMass, Temple and #21 Saint Louis still have title hopes.  Dayton can grab at least a share with a win at Xavier.    UMass hosts Saint Louis tonight in a winner take all match.  If UMass can defeat both Saint Louis and Charlotte at home this weekend they can take the title if Dayton slips. Meanwhile, Temple can also win the title at home with wins over Fordham and LaSalle.  The Atlantic 10 definitely has the most competetive championship race in the nation this year.

Big West -
#23 Cal Poly is currently 1st on 18 points, but #19 UC Santa Barbara can pass them with a win at #27 UC Davis.  UC Irvine and UC Davis are fighting it out for 3rd place as only 1 point separates them.  #18 UC Irvine can wrap up 3rd with a win at CS Northridge.

Conference USA -
#6 Tulsa has the conference title and #24 Kentucky has clinched 2nd.  Marshall, Memphis & UCF are all tied for 3rd going into the final weekend.

Other Games of Note -
#23 Cal Poly @ UCLA
#5 Akron @ Ohio State
