Following repeated approaches by Chelsea in an attempt to sign away star striker Fernando Torres Liverpool has gone on record denying that their leading scorer is for sale at any price. Torres turned in a written transfer request today hoping to push through the transfer, but he is under contract with Liverpool until 2013. It is reporte that Chelsea were offering nearly $56 million for his rights.
"Fernando Torres tonight submitted written transfer request, which has been rejected by Liverpool," a club statement said. "Fernando is under long term contract, and the club expect him to honor the commitment he made to Liverpool FC and its supporters when he signed the agreement."
New manager Kenny Dalglish has turned around the languishing side as they have won three straight EPL matches posting two shutouts in the streak Earlier in the day Liverpool agreed to acquire Luis Suarez from Ajax. Torres joined Liverpool for a club record $40 million in 2007 frolm Atletico Madrid.
