Manchester City claimed their first trophy in decades as they dispatched Stoke City 1-0 Saturrday afternoon at Wembley. Again the hero was Yaya Toure. Just as he scored the winner in the semifinals against rivals Man United, Toure found the winner again. This time only 15 minutes from time.
It has been quite a week for Manchester City. On Tuesday they defeated Tottenham to lock up a spot in next year's Champions League and then win the FA Cup on the weekend.
Carlos Tevez showed little signs of injury or rust as he set about troubling Stoke from the opening whistle. Manchester City were on the front foot and dominated the entire opening 45 minutes, yet had nothing to show for it as the game reached the break.
Stoke emerged with a vengeance in the second half and pushed at City hard. It looked like Stoke would take the lead as Jones got in behind the City defense, but Joe Hart was up to the task and made the save. Manchester City would soon find the winner though. A Mario Balotelli shot was blocked, but the loose ball falling for Yaya Toure to blast home.
