Germany became the first side to qualify for next summers 2008 European soocer championship with a 0-0 draw in Ireland. Meanwhile, Scotland convincingly beat Ukraine 3-1 at home to keep the pressure on Italy and France in Group B. Both Italy and France kept pace with wins. Italy's hopes will rest on a road match in Scotland next month while France will qualify by winning out.
Croatia continue to lead Group E on 26 and look solid to qualify. England has won 5 straight and will claim a spot with a win in Russia on Wednesday. Russia must beat the English to have hopes of qualifying. Even an England draw will make Russia's hopes almost nil.
Both Sweden and Spain look comfortable in Group F after both claimed wins on Saturday. Greece opened a 4 point gap in Group C as they won while Turkey could only manage a draw in Moldova. Turkey and Greece meet Wednesday.
Group A remained tight as 4 teams remain in the hunt still. Poland will lock up a spot with a win at home over Belguim on Wednesday. Portugal looks to be in a pretty good spot as well over Finland who are both on 20 points. Portugal has a game in hand still.
Romania looks safe in Group G while Bulgaria tries to catch Holland for the 2nd spot.
