It all comes down to the last day for England. After the gift on the wekend from Israel all they need is a win or draw at home to group leaders Croatia today and they gain entry into Euro 2008. Third place Russia faces minnows Andorra needing to grab the 3 points, but must have England stumble to have any shot. Russia hopes are slim though as Croatia have little to play for as they have already qualfied from the group.
Most groups are pretty much decided going into the closing games. In Group A Poland has clinched a spot while Portugal looks to be safely through as well. In Group B play, Italy and France have both moved on safely although Scotland put up a brave fight.
There is still work to be done in Group C though. Greece showed to be the class of the group and have qualified easily, but there is quite a fight between Turkey and Norway for the 2nd spot. Turkey rallied from a goal down to defeat Norway on the weekend and grab initiative in the group. All they need is a home win over Bosnia and Turkey will have a spot in Euro 2008. Norway must hope for a Turkey slipup and grab the points from Malta to qualify.
Both the Czech Republic and Germany are through with little trouble from Group D, while Spain and Sweden are safe in Group F.
No real surprises in Euro 2008 qualifying this time around as all the big boys are safely through other than England. Surprises of the qualifying would have to be the brave fight from Scotland against ITaly and France as well as the impressive Greek run through their group.
